What our Crew is saying…

  • "Thank you so much for a wonderful weekend of sailing! We can't wait to get back out there and test out our skills while getting a lot more practice. We're looking into a local sailing club in Madison and also continue to peruse the boat market in hopes of owning our own someday! We realize now how lucky we were to have such amazing weather that weekend, not to mention such a wonderful teacher! You do an excellent job making it seem easy. Thank you for your time and dedication!!"

    — Sally

  • "Thanks so much for the kind words, all of your hospitality and most of all, the excellent instruction you provided.  I thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of the course and can’t tell you how grateful I am for the experience. I will definitely recommend you to anyone else I hear might be looking to take a course. Hopefully I’ll run into you one of these days up in Milwaukee - if not, please keep in touch and give me a shout anytime you’re in town. "

    — Tom

  • "Just wanted to say another “thanks”! Really enjoyed the 4 days on the water and the learning environment. I couldn’t have learned it from anyone else but you ;-) Thanks again. Keep me in the loop about upcoming courses (here or in the BVI) or if you ever need a second hand on the boat for an afternoon!"

    — Jochen

  • Thank you Captain Frank for such a great class! The hands-on practical learning gave me the confidence that I needed. I now have my own boat and sail as much as I can!

  • Your class was the just the confidence boost I needed to throw caution to the wind and buy a cruiser for our family last year. I really appreciated how you let us freely practice on your boat, especially the hands-on docking and anchoring that I hadn’t done before on a vessel that size. We raised the sails 40 times last season and made it as far as the “Indiana Riviera” on a 30 NM overnight jaunt. Wouldn’t have done it without the ASA training!

  • I’d highly recommend Spinnaker Crew Sailing for your next charter. Firstly, the boat is large enough for a group and kept exceptionally clean. The captain is confident, knowledgeable and most importantly fun to be around. Being a certified instructor, and for those that want to learn while on charter, he’s more than happy to teach the basics to get a feel for the sailing life. Or you can just sit back and take in the Chicago skyline from the best vantage point on the water.

  • "I signed up for my first ASA course with Frank in 2020. I grew up on Lake Michigan and wanted to take on a new challenging hobby. The hands-on experience mixed with sailing theory was great, so I continued taking courses and soon bought my own boat. Definitely recommended!"

    —Jason

  • I highly recommend the sailing courses offered by Spinnaker Crew Sailing. I was completely new to and unfamiliar with sailing when I took the ASA 101 course, but my instructor explained everything in a way that was easy to understand and fun to learn. By the end of the course, I had a good understanding of the basics of sailing and felt comfortable being a part of a sailing crew.
